Why speaking needs its own practice
Many learners can read and understand a lot of English, but they freeze when they have to say something. That is normal. Reading and listening train your brain to understand. Speaking trains a different skill: finding words fast, building a sentence while you talk, and not stopping when you make a mistake.
You only get better at that skill by doing it. Grammar books and videos help, but they do not make you speak. What helps most is volume: many short conversations, often.
What you need for good speaking practice
- Someone who answers you, so you practice listening and replying, not only talking.
- No pressure. Fear of mistakes stops many people. You speak more when no one is watching you.
- Time. Ten minutes a day, every day, is better than one hour once a week.
- Real topics. Talk about your day, your work, your plans, things you care about.
How bule.ai helps
bule.ai is a free app for English speaking practice. You talk out loud with Bule, an AI conversation partner, and Bule answers in a natural voice in real time. It works in your browser at app.bule.ai and in the Android app.
- Free and unlimited voice conversation. No daily minute limit.
- Bule waits when you pause to think. You can take your time.
- Bule remembers what you talked about, so the next conversation can continue from there.
- Practice scenarios: a job interview, ordering food, a visit to the doctor, a phone call, haggling at a market, and working at a hotel front desk.
- A daily word game, Describe it, with the same 5 cards for everyone each day.
- A Recap after each conversation, with the new words you used and your longest stretch of speaking.
A simple 10-minute daily plan
- Minute 1 to 2: say hello and tell Bule about your day. Short sentences are fine.
- Minute 3 to 7: pick one topic and go deeper. Explain why, give an example, tell a short story.
- Minute 8 to 9: try a scenario you will need soon, like a job interview or a phone call.
- Minute 10: read your Recap. Look at one new word and use it again tomorrow.
What to talk about when you do not know what to say
If you get stuck, say so in English: "I don't know the word, but it is like...". That sentence alone is great practice.
- Your morning: what you ate, how you travelled, what you plan to do.
- Something you watched, read or played this week, and what you think about it.
- A place you like in your town, and why you like it.
- A problem at work or school, and how you could solve it.
- A trip you want to take one day.
What bule.ai is not
bule.ai is a conversation partner, not a teacher with a course. It does not grade you, and it is not a pronunciation coach. If you have a real person to practice with, practice with them too. bule.ai is for all the other times.
